This is a simple easy to perform close-up quickie, which is guaranteed to fool and entertain any audience. It is also a first class "Sucker effect" in which the onlookers feel that they know exactly how the trick is done, however nothing is further from the truth.
Effect.
The magician removes a normal looking box of matches from his pocket. His hands are otherwise completely empty. The matchbox is freely shown, then placed onto the palm of his hand. Slowly the fingers close around the box and the fist is turned face down. The matchbox is pushed through the clenched fist emerging at the other-side. BUT WAIT! THE COVER OF THE BOX HAS COMPLETELY VANISHED? Only the drawer complete with its matches remain! Thinking because the magician still holds his fist firmly clenched hi MUST be concealing the cover. The magician proves this is not to be the case by opening his hand, showing it to be EMPTY! The cover really has DISAPPEARED! The magician removes the cover from his pocket replacing it back on the box.
